Project #2

5K Project number two honed in on a small business. Every community needs small businesses to thrive and build its own unique character. Whether it be the local coffee shop where you catch up with someone, a pizza place on a Friday night or the floral shop for prom, small businesses are the heartbeat of every community around the country.

As of the start of 2022, there were thirty-two million small businesses in the United States, with less than five hundred employees being the parameter to meet. During the pandemic there was a small business boom, with true passion being the driving force behind these entrepreneurs. 2020 boasted 4.4 million new small businesses, which was a 25.7% increase over 2019. Then in 2021 5.4 million new small businesses emerged, a 22.7% increase over 2020. This shift was driven by the hard working, business minded people that wanted to pursue passion in their everyday life, all while a huge overhaul was hitting the American workforce.

Jessica Rodriguez is one of those new small business owners, with her animal focused photography company ‘Pet Project by Jess.’ It was our pleasure to commission a shoot for her to expand her portfolio, as well as have someone in Las Vegas receive high quality photos and prints to support one of the newest small businesses.

Funding for this project was part of donation phase 1 from late 2021 into early 2022.

Project #3

5K Project number one arose late one night in the summer of 2022, when one social media post spurred a thought that manifested itself into reality. A friend from high school asked if there were any tables she could borrow. We thought about the idea of community based items. In every neighborhood there are dozens of houses, all with a self-sustainable attitude driving them to each own their own tables, snow blower, lawn mower, ladders etc.

As newer generations begin to have kids and purchase homes and settle down, the idea of having community items to share provides a sense of relief from anything that is conditionally used. 5K chose to donate white folding tables. They are the backbone of well known community events, ranging from yard sales to birthday parties, and everything in between.

Beth and Nate Palinchik are high school sweethearts that have had five children in their hometown, and they embody all of the beautiful aspects of a big family. It was out pleasure to send four full size white folding tables to them with the notion of not only helping with what they may need them for, but also to be ready to let anyone in their neighborhood borrow them for whatever event may arise.

Funding for this project was past of donation phase 1 from late 2021 into early 2022.
